Sensory-Friendly Art Party
Inspired by Montessori birthday celebrations, gatherings at Colorspell are designed to be magical and meaningful while honoring sensitivities of children and parents alike. Our hope is that everyone leaves feeling joyful and refreshed rather than depleted so we work carefully to set up the space for “soft celebrating.” At welcoming, children will be invited to find a seat at the table to make their own star wand, inspired by Berea-based artist, Mary Elizabeth Colmer, who always keeps star wands for new friends in her studio after a childhood bully broke her handmade wand on the playground. This is a special tradition at Colorspell! Once everyone has arrived, guests will help roll beeswax candles and decorate them with dried flowers to celebrate the birthday child then choose their paint to work on their own 11x14 canvas panel. The art presentation lasts one hour. Following our creator time, you’re welcome to serve refreshments and do cake and presents. Your party package includes:
