THE COLOR NOOK
Amanda here—I’m excited to announce that for much of 2026, I will be the artist-in-residence at Dynamic Dance where I’ll be working closely with Choreographer Morgan Moreno to explore the intersection of dance and visual art. As part of this exciting opportunity, I’ll be opening “The Color Nook,” an imaginative and experimental space for classes and camps. For those who loved visiting my previous studio in downtown Georgetown, you’ll find the same welcoming spirit but with wide open space for folks of all ages to build community around our desire for expression and mark-making.
Children’s Classes:
Movers & Makers is a weekly gathering challenging students to explore art with their full bodies and spirits. We’ll spend time jumping, swinging, crawling and leaping to create big, bold marks. Our time together will go beyond the typical desk-sized workspace children are used to and give them WIDE OPEN SPACE to define their own color and line language. By combining body movement with art, children will build confidence in experimenting, recovering from messes and thinking way outside of the box. We’ll draw inspiration from the season as well, building a strong foundation for establishing lifelong creative practices rooted in natural cycles. Children should come dressed for mess with grippy socks. Drop-off is welcome but parents are always invited to find a quiet spot during class.

During this week-long gathering time, we will spend time studying the movements, patterns and vibrant hues of our favorite animals. Each day will include child-led process art, giving students time to experiment with a variety of mediums at their own, lots of sensory play and invitations to move and dance. Our groups will never be more than 24 students, keeping our gathering sensory-friendly with quiet breaks for all friends. Recommended for grades K-5 but you know your child best!

During this week-long gathering time, we will spend time transforming ordinary boxes into our very own, functional carnival! Students will design and construct games, plan entertainment and create costumes all out of cardboard! Our groups will never be more than 24 students, keeping our gathering sensory-friendly with quiet breaks for all friends. Recommended for grades K-5 but you know your child best! To end the week, families are welcome to arrive at 1 pm on Friday to experience all of the hard work and enjoy some carnival fun themselves!

We’ll enjoy glow-painting, small world building and more! Our groups will never be more than 24 students, keeping our gathering sensory-friendly with quiet breaks for all friends. Recommended for grades K-5 but you know your child best!
