Dancing for Dopamine
Colorspell is thrilled to partner with our friends and neighbors at Dynamic Dance to bring you a dance class unlike any other, designed to hold safe space for all bodies and backgrounds to celebrate joyful movement while also exploring intuitive writing and sketching. This class is for you if dancing or watching dance fills your spirit with excitement. Even if you haven’t danced in many years or you’ve only danced alone in your bedroom, this time is devoted to PLAY.
When & Where:
Mondays from February 17 through March 24
7pm-9pm
Dynamic Dance
124 S. Broadway
Georgetown, KY
What to Expect:
In order to build community and the safety of a “team” setting, we ask folks to commit for the full six weeks of this session. Our time together will begin with intuition building and journaling with Amanda. We’ll check in with each other and ourselves, holding a safe circle to discuss any feelings that come up and set expectations for our practice. We will spend time stretching, with the focus being on bending so we don’t break—a valuable lesson during this season! Morgan will then teach us a fun combo. The dances will be appropriate for all skill levels, with guidance on how to modify choreography to suit your body and style. We’ll then work in small groups together to workshop the combo, learning from each other and taking time to absorb the choreography. We’ll end class with optional demos of the combo with a spirit of play, encouragement and fun.
Who:
If you’ve always wanted to dance, if you used to dance, if you secretly dance, if you need a new crowd, if you’re 40, if you’re 62, if you’re 15 and feeling disconnected from your peers…this is safe space to move because that’s what bodies do. Join us.
What to Wear:
Whatever you feel comfortable wearing!
